The existing types of water
We can find many different types of water in nature, and they are differentiated according to their place of origin. Here we explain which types of water are suitable for human consumption.
Drinking water
This is the type of water that we can consume and it is distributed through our taps. It is treated, and its main sources are streams or springs. To be characterized as impurity-free, drinking water needs to come from a clean source and have undergone a treatment process.
Mineral water
This is the type that has the highest amount of minerals in its composition. It can come from a natural source, but the commercial ones can be mineralized artificially by receiving dissolved minerals and other chemicals in their preparation. Natural mineral water usually goes through several paths and deep regions.
Fresh water
Fresh water is found in rivers and lakes, but it cannot be consumed immediately. It must first go through a process of filtering out bacteria, either by boiling or some other treatment method.
Filtered water
Filtered water goes through a series of processes to remove dirt and impurities. All the types of water mentioned above can be filtered, making it even safer to drink.
The path of water in our body
Water has its journey within the human body. This journey starts the moment our brain tells us it needs water, when we feel thirsty, and goes from ingestion, starting in the mouth, to the small intestine, passing through the esophagus and the stomach.
Our body is not able to store water, so after consumption it is distributed throughout our entire body. A glass of water takes about 30 to 60 minutes to travel all the way, leaving some of its formula in the blood, which will spread its benefits to all organs and muscles.
Remember to stay well hydrated during the day, especially if you perform many activities that keep the body moving and with constant fluid loss. Otherwise, always have a glass or bottle of water handy and drink it whenever you feel thirsty. Your body will thank you and the benefits will be noticed, from your skin to your performance in sports.
